This is a low-quality WIP for a MAC8 (Sorrowed Tears) entry I'm working on (my second one).

I still haven't added dynamics so it sounds rather plain. The song's also too empty, but that'll be fixed later with a little something I'm working on :)

Yes, I'm aware I suck at chords.

The overall description surrounding the song will come with the final render. In the meantime, make your own stories :)

All crit is welcomed. I hadn't intended on releasing a WIP here on NG but...stupid Putfile wasn't working for me.

I like it

The piano part is fine sounding as it is, but it does still sound a little empty... Maybe add more background noise throughout the song, nothing drastic or overbearing, just something to make it more full. A violin might sound incredible in here too.

Overall really captures the theme of the MAC though, and I like where this is going. I hope to hear your final work soon.

GronmonSE responds:

I won't fill the emptiness with strings, it's something slightly more interesting and a bit riskier for a contest, but it's definitely something that fits the theme.

Thanks for the review.

not empty, and chords ar okay!

I don't think this song is empty. It's a sweet easy going song. And I can imagine it very well in a scene where someone is remembering something from her/his past.

I really would like why you choosed the people talking before the melody "shows".
I've a random shot but would like to know your reason.

GronmonSE responds:

I wanted to leave that to open interpretation but I'll give you my version I guess. Those people talking are having fun at a party/gathering. The piano comes in when the person realizes those are just memories of his sweet past and that his present is very different. That's my own way of explaining it though.

Thanks for the review :D

Awesome

Really. The piano was beautiful. Did you play it yourself or did you use a VST ? In any case it was awesome.

GronmonSE responds:

Haha wow, first time I get asked that. I composed it in FL with spliced WAV files rather than a VST or a soundfont. Sounds much better since it's analog sound rather than digital. I still have to add dynamics (I only added some to the intro) to the rest of the song to make it sound real and better.

Thanks for the 5 and the review :D I'm actually surprised this is getting decent scores.
