I was feeling random one day so i did a trance remix of a ballad by one of my favorite power metal bands Sonata Arctica. It's got a lot of rough edges but i just did it for fun... I'm sure a lot of people who know and love the original song will vomit with rage at this butchering, but whatever. Feed bank would be cool
the piano is very similar
I'd say it's too close to the original (but too far to say it has been stolen) to say you're being original. Globally you're doing the same song but with other "instruments". I wouldn't call this butchering, but I still prefer the real one much more!
