I challenged chucktownbluv to a friendly beat battle and and here's what I came up with. I don't generally get into the battle beat mode of production, so this is my own interpretation of that style of track, including some new tricks I've been working on in the lab. I stick to mainly low-key pieces, a few southern style tracks and alot of more new skool/tech-hop style tracks, as well as my newest trials of micro-sampling, but this gave me a chance to change it up a bit and see what I could do. As far as I know Brizzle hasn't put up his beat yet, so check back or hit his page up for updates.

Sik man

This is one phat beat right here. Diggin the synth and the the gunshots. The the drums were kinda plain though. And while the beat was really cool, I was expecting it to pick up into a more hyped beat, with some fast ass hi hats or something. This beat sounds more like an intro to a song or something. But that's just me. I still think this beat is really tighy though, especially those sample voices you used, very different. Good job, looking fowards to hearing what Chuck is making.

5/5 - 4.17 / 5.00 (+ 0.067)

Pssst...the scratched vocal comes from Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz "Deja Vu", it's Gunz verse section...insider secret.

Thanks for the review. Yeah, the drums were hard to really nail down going with the rest of the track, and I'm not entirely sure I woulda stuck with them if I'd spent more time on it, but as it was I had already changed the layout, instros, and most of the track from it's original sound at least 3 times. I had to stop and put it down/finalize it at some time since it was a battle track and not a contracted beat. I am also looking forward to chuck's track. Again, I appreciate the review.

got damn

This beat is tight. Gunshots used as an actual musical device?? Nice touch, lol. I haven't had nearly as much time to work on mine as I had hoped...hopefully in the next day or 2 it'll be up.

InGenius responds:

Take your time, I did. I totally understand, I'm workin' 6 days a week, around 8-12 hours a day most days, and sometimes a second job on the side. Got a wedding to pay for and she's Catholic...Anyhow, just finish up and hit me up when it hits NG. We should collab after we both get more time...I'm gettin' murdered on spare time and got two collabs I still need to finish up (I ain't forgot ya'll Druid & Merc).

Oh shit that is clean ass beat dude. I'm puttin this on my favez!

InGenius responds:

Thanks, I appreciate the review. As I said in the description, it's not exactly my usual style, but it does have alot of the tech flavor of some of my beats. Thanks again for the review.
