Hello people of Newgrounds, I (finally) put out a new song! I think its pretty decent, I'll go into depth later.

For now, I'll tell you about what the purpose of this song is. I made it as a promotional tune for Necromian's new game! It is a very enjoyable puzzle game, with a level designer! Link: http://nfyre.com/perfecti on.html

Now, onto production methods. The inspiration for this track was taken partially from Take California, by the Propellerheads, the snare specifically. It had a cool stereo effect on it, and I wanted to duplicate that. So, after testing and sampling James Brown, I figured it out... sorta. What I THINK it was could have been Phase offset, coupled with stereo field reduction on the low end. I'm probably overthinking it, its most likely just a delay effect, but hey, whatever works.

The melody came next, it was a simple chord progression. Next, the bass. It used to be a sine Sub Bass, but I came across a PERFECT bass sample out of the intro of a Peter Tosh song, and I had to sample it. That and the intro fill are from Peter Tosh songs. The Rhodes was a pretty natural progression.

Now, the synth playing chords took forever to get right. It wasn't there originally, but I felt like the tune was lacking something. I started to try with 3xOsc. Nothing fit. Neither did anything from StringSynth, mda DX10, JunoX2, etc. Until I found the freeware Juno6 plugin. However, it kept not playing... glitching, so I had to remove it. Eventually, I decided to get two pieces of freeware I had heard great things about: Oatmeal and Crystal. Turns out that Oatmeal was great. I designed a nice synth in it, and it fit the mix well, especially with its 3 built in Parametric EQs. Hooray for semi-modular!

Anyways, I hope this has been enough reading material to distract you for long enough, enjoy! :) Icon by Necromian.

Aaah

Relaxing with the song...
I think I have Navij11 favourited, why two accounts? Also lol at the review below mine. =D
I like how the beat sounds simple but good, like well thought out... Also I like the over-all feel which is cheery and happy.
Don't know anything to critisize, sounds great!

Nav responds:

Navij11 doesn't exist anymore, I got a name change, then Chim stole the name XD

So just add this, because Navij11 doesn't have any music! Thanks for the review, and you should listen to the song I just uploaded if you like dnb! :D

Nav responds:

HI NAV THANKS FOR LIKING IT LOL

Awesome.

The snare was a bit too loud and it started to disturb me a bit though - if the snare was a little less loud, you would've gotten full 10 stars. It's still worth a five.

Nav responds:

Thanks! :)

Wow

Quite an improvement from "v. 1" with those god wafflle drums.
You've inspired me to go deprive myself of sleep working for justin stuff.
I'm gonna play rythm games until i get tired and start to hallucinate, then rub my fists against my eyes and draw what I see.

Nav responds:
