Electronic - Drum N Bass

Author Comments

I've been working getting the basic breakbeat and bass tone finished for my first drum and bass song, and so far it sounds pretty wicked! I have 1 cerebra saw and 3 instances of Native Instruments Massive making the bass, with distortion, chorus, and flanger in the mix, and tons of LFO's. The breakbeat has 2 snare samples, 2 kick samples, backround hi hats, ride sample, and 2 different breakbeat loops in the background... it's sitting pretty well around 150-170 hertz in the mix, and the bass is taking the mid frequency so I'll let that ride for now. I'm working on a lead and of course the Sub Bass to take the low frequency's for the rest of the song. But so far, it's a pretty good start, still not sure where I want this to go right now but hopefully in a week or so it will be finished.

Any thought's on mixing or editing either the break or the bass tone right now or ideas on instruments to add?

Nice, I like what I hear.

The drums were pretty awesome. If you're really going for a breakbeat sound, make sure to mix up the drums a bit, and diversify. That's the fun part :D

Good bass, I definitely can recognize the cerbera saw in there. Not saying that's a bad thing, or that you should turn it down at all. Cerbera Saw is a great sytrus preset, I love it.

The bass sounds great with the flanger, but a bit faded out. If I were you, I would just turn down the flanger a tiny bit, and raise the whole EQ in general. Or anything else, just to make the bass a little more dominant.

Not much to say aside from that, really good start you got coming here! It sounds very wicked, indeed. If you want, add some dark vocals in there, and maybe master/edit/slice them up a bit, for a great dirty DnB feel.

I look forward to hearing this whole song! Nice job so far...I like it! If you want to check out some of my music, I just got a new song out, "Galeforce"'s trance, not sure if that's your style, but any additional scores/listens/reviews are greatly appreciated!

Keep it up, I like your stuff. 5/5

DomesticTerrorist responds:

Sweet :D Thats what I'll do haha. Also for the sub bass, I have a pretty cool square wave oscillator going on... it's beefing up the low end like hell haha
