Remastered - rethought: http://www.newgrounds.com /audio/listen/230584

Person I knew..
We once pulsed together.
A total collapse caught us.
Your end. My End. Who's really to say?
Person I Knew..
Maybe I'll meet you again.
Not now. Not in some odd months.
Or even some weird years.
could be a decade..
who's to say?
I've got my bet on another life time.
So you wont have to count the seconds..
Person I knew; another life time.
Yeah, That sounds about right..

further words:

Every week i returned to the shores, stood in the exact place, with the moon high in the sky. It was almost as if i had never moved in between that first night and the new nights. The smell of salty air danced in my nose, and i'd dig my toes into dry sand..

Again, as before, It arose from the sea; the silver monster. Against a frail moon its oblong limbs swayed. From its slim fingers rained falls of water. Its eyes pulsed with a fatigued red glow and its stance held a disposition that translated just that. It lumbered towards the shore with a ponderous step. Like slow motion film in stepped, stepped towards the shore. A gasp, i held my breath, in hopes that i would forget a breath and die, only in order to make sure this event was real. Never have i seen a phenomenon like this before. I couldn't move. Not stricken with fear. It was as if the sight stopped time.

It sank its burly soles into the wet sand and looked down to me. It did not say a word. I could not tell if it even blinked. It stared for a long time, as if trying to translate messages to me. I felt a pull at my heart. Like someone or something dig into my chest and took a hold on my aorta, all the while tugging gently. I said nothing and the giant reached down for me. Its limber fingers dug into the sand with easy and picked me up. I had rattled about. Bouncing from finger to finger, trying to keep balance as it pulled me upwards in a rush of cool midnight air. I clutched its ring finger and off we went away from the shores and towards the forests. Through the tree's we raced, I, holding steady on a ridge of wrinkled water logged skin. As our journey wore on, i loosened my grip, and with the stance of a wayward sea explore i stood tall. The sharp winds cut through my hair and whipped my clothing. Looking past the webbing of the giants fingers i could see i was high above the canopy, high above the earth, above everything.

I didn't know how far we would go. I didnt care if we had stopped. I was sure this monster had to return to the sea at some time. I looked back to it. To see its face, It looked as if it were wearing a mask of some sort. A mask of hardened sand. Etched upon the visage there was an artistic smile. I held fast, standing strong, smiling back.

Reviews

Hmm.

Reminds me of "These Mistakes" by nubbinownz. I think it could have used a sub-bass, but it's ok as it is. It also doesn't have much diversity, as far I can hear. All I hear is a piano, a pad-type thing, some weird sound effect in the background (i think it's in the song...) and the drums.

Overall good job, though.

Oh, now I'm noticing, that weird sound effect I mentioned before... it sounds like a crow... is that what it is?

Yeah, him and I are sort of in the same genre. A bass? I could go back and do that, but i dunno, i liked the empty sort of sound it has without one. There's some light stuff at the end. A stand up bass, hah. There's no pad in the song though. You may have heard some birds and yes, crows. Thank you for your review, man, i appreciate your ears.

yep

this is really rare dnb.

Thanks man.

Maybe it's me...

But I've steadily grown pissed at the fact that you're not on the all top-scoring list yet...
Right now you remain, and as far as I'm concerned, may always be, my favorite artist on newgrounds.
I've just never heard music like yours before...
And I could just listen to your music on any occasion, for any occasion.
I don't know if you're taking a career with this (you really should)
If you are, you have a faithful fan in line waiting to purchase your cd.

And trust my temporal lobe is on the verge of bursting.

Heh - heh. That'd would be fun, being on the list. Oh well if i dont. As long as i've got some people here and there that find my music and truly enjoy it as you seem to do. I'm so fine with that. If your interested in more music similar to what i do, you should check out a "The Flashbulb, Venetian Snares, Telefon Tel Aviv, and Yasume" They may ring with you.

( check out nubbinownz too, he's under your review : D )

As far as a professional career - i'm try to? Heh. Its a slow process. I'd like to hopefully get to that state some time : D
I'll let you know when a cd's out.

(as always, thank you for the review)

Good, i hope it is.

ahh magoo you've done it again!

I see you're making good use of those samples ;) Really the piano melody at the beginning is enchanting. You've been practicing your drum sequencing I can tell.
Only thing I could have added personally is a bit of reverb/delay on those slowed drums near the end, to give them a bit more presence. but other than that, this is absolutely superb.

Heh heh heh, yes i am. I really found out how to get that breakcore 'amen break' style. I also incorporated some random bits I have been practicing. I've actually got alot of random drum parts here and there that i was putting together just for fun / study hah. You know, i was going to add some more reverb. I actually went back and did more work to this song. I havent posted up the newer version. There's also a click at the end of one the snare samples that i got rid of - from when the sample abruptly ends. That snare was actually has reverb on it. But i have it hit and cut out before the echo finishes. Thought that was a nice effect. But on that second kick i put some more reverb on it. the more - i may see what it sounds with the amen kick too? I just liked how the echo on the snare cut, thats mainly why i didnt fill up the drums with too much reverb. Thank you for your advice, man, its fun to see you think as i do XD. All about that reverb. Ah-hah! I've been trying to use it in creative ways. In some of my more recent songs. I really like the heavy reverb to cut. Also messing around with events which i did in this song. Where you control how much is going on. So turning it down, to turning it up, to making it wider, etc. blah blah, hah, i talk too much XD

Outworldish

I like the lyrical feel to it, nice movement/panning and contrast of drums with piano. Cool piano 'roar' at 2:08 =) The piano ending was great, as well as the beginning with the crow. Has an outworldsish feel to it. What are you using for drums ?

Hey, thanks a lot for this review. I was hoping someone would! I was working on my more idm / breakcore side of things. Trying to get really interesting drums. Hehe, yeah like them crows too : D. The ending is my favorite bit too, with the jazzy playing. Its nice to hear that it has sort of feel to it, thats what i was i going for! I used the "Amen Break" in this song along with some other processed stuff i have laying around and another bit of another break.
