This makes number four in my series of orchestral Chrono Trigger songs. I know the intro is pretty long. And I cut out a part of the middle because it didn't fit right with the rest of the song. Please vote, its only one click. Also if there's something horribly wrong with it please let me know. I can't fix it if I don't know. :)

I Love this Theme song of Magus his my favorite character of Chrono Trigger

Incredible; but not the best.

A great job here; Magus' Theme is one of the best themes orchestrated, and infact, the skill portrayed here is crazy beyond belief. That beginning was the exact tone; almost exactly sounded like a strange unheard-of, yet cool, Bleach theme; oddly enough, I could also take it to sound like some weird horror movie theme (probably with Pennywise the Clown).

However, I do feel that the lead-in to the main theme took a little too long, and that while it was great, it should be shorter. While I am not saying you shouldn't alternate some things, you shouldn't change them to the point that it hurts it more than helps; also, some of the timing as well as changes were off and switched around.

As far as it being the fighting theme? It's not exactly paced correctly, much less put into a tone and theme as such. So I don't believe it fits that regard whatsoever. But as a travelling or alternate theme? Perfect beyond anyone's wildest dreams. I would definitely like to hear this theme if Magus would have decided to join your group.

You did a crazy job with this, and some of the problems I explained here you already mentioned, which is good. Since you learned from your apparent mistakes, as well as continue to improve, I do give you the following ruling:

-------------
10/10
5/5

Again; while this may not be the best in terms of battling themes, if this was more made towards being a travelling/alternate theme, I see Gold Medals and an Oscar coming your way. :P

(And for the record, the reason why I put the "Pennywise the Clown" reference is because the beginning sounds like a lead-up into more than likely seeing the crazy Clown finally unleash "It".)

Thanks for the awesome review and constructive criticism. You're right the intro is (as quite a few people said) too long for magus' theme and the pacing is off. Honestly, There's a lot more wrong with this song than you mentioned. There's a lot of problems with my Chrono trigger songs in general.
.
At the time, I didn't have any orchestral vst's so I used reason (a program I wasn't too familiar with) to do all the Chrono trigger songs. They were also my first attempts at orchestral composition, so there was a lot of learning going on in terms of pacing, instrument choice, chord progression, etc.
.
It's reviews like yours that really help me to improve by letting me know what's wrong with the piece and what I can do better. So, Thank you very much for letting me know what you didn't like and leaving such a helpful review . I've always intended to revisit the chrono trigger songs and I'll make sure to keep in mind your critique.

Amazing

I literally got the Chrono Trigger DS Remake less than a week ago and I have been absolutly obessed with it all but this is my faveourate song, battle and character to date. The intro fits the theme of Magus's battle perfectly, forbidding, yet tense and silence was perfectly timed. The slow buildup helps this again and the single string increases the feeling of dread. The middle section portrays the fight perfectly, epic and yet rather desperate. The ending when you cut the background and just has a couple of instruments playing was particulary impressive as that effect usual just makes it seem corny or slow but in this case it enabled me to visulise some form of finishing blow, for either side. Very impressive, an instant download, thank you for the experience.

And thank you for the review. :)

pretty nice

Well done; this was one of my favorite tunes from Chrono Trigger. Yours is a little slow to start in my opinion, but it's pretty good!

HexMonkey responds:

Thanks for the review. I wanted it to have a slow build up to the main melody, but I understand that the slow intro might be a bit boring. Thanks again for the review.

not bad

good song! i liked the drums, kinda reminds me "FATE computer" theme (from crono cross game) but i expected more... still, for the good ol' memmories, im giving you an 8 jaja...

HexMonkey responds:

Thank You.
