No Love For Spartacus

There was no love for him.

And he constantly battled against emotions.

Happiness brought a drought of sadness.

Caught in the cycle of the plains.

How could someone loose themselves like that?

Degrade themselves like that?

How could you let someone else take your hand, as i would?

Touch your face, as i would.

Elaborate you, as i would.

Need you, as i did..

( This is a remix of old modal jazz pianist Bill Evans - a remix on his beautiful playing of "The Spartacus Love Theme". The theme is by far one of my favorite themes and or played songs. Bill Evans is one of my favorite pianists. I wish he was still around. I tried not to make the drums too wild and glitchy, more hip-hop almost. I wanted a nice sound to compliment his playing. His playing Is the lone piano ambiance at the start of the track, which continues on. The original sounds nothing like that. I've stretched and cut, and looped and threw on some heavy reverb that i feel is fitting. The second part comes in, and the piano picks up, almost at random. I sliced and processed bits and pieces from his track and rearranged them. Some of the glitched up piano that plays over the ambient Evans' playing is my own piano. I hope you all enjoy this. )

i really like this, where does the piano sample come in at?

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

I'm assuming you meant "come from"?
It's modal jazz legend Bill Evans version of "The Spartacus Love Theme"

This is soooooo good n trippy

I like the fact you started with the deeper sounds, and then introduced all the higher pitched sounds afterwards, the whole combination between everything is very usique, its definitely an experimental song at the beginning, then the melody comes in and i absolutely love the way it fits perfectly amidst the rest of the higher tone sounds, it all gells together nicely.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thank the wonderful Bill Evans for most of the beauty in this. His modal playing is wonderful. I remember this just being a little experimental tune back in the day. That said, it did shape my future playing a good bit when I stopped sampling like this. I'd love to be able to play like Evans.

This is... really nice :)

It's a beautiful piece, and it gives a really peaceful, laid-back piano and beat, and also some twisted dissoneration (I couldn't think of a better word... or the word I was thinking of :P)... It sounds like... I'm in a computer, and I'm a program. The computer has a major glitch... Or maybe I'm in some bizarre, warped dreamworld. Bits and pieces of the floor around me are what make up the roof. This is an elegant theme. Thank you, for your time, and for posting this :)

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thanks a lot for the review, man. It was a good read. Maybe you were looking for the word 'Dissonance'? I dunno. :P
I'm glad you like this piece, though. Seems like I made this ages ago. It's always been a favorite of mine. Can't believe it's last review was back in 2009. Haha. I'm glad you stumbled upon it and that it paints such a picture for you.

Really great remix....

I have not heard the original, but by the praise that you give it. I can tell that it is awesome. I really dont have any words to describe this song it is awesome. I have searching newgrounds for songs I could use in this game I am creating, and I was wondering if I could use this one? All credit would go to you of course.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Yeah man, that'd be really rad. Feel free to use it.
