This song is an electronic companion to a more guitar-driven song that I'm currently working on. I figure that, while I work on that, I might as well release this thing to the public.

I decided to start with gradually adding layers, starting with a sample of my own SR-16 loops, then introducing strings, followed by a lead, and then a bass. For both parity with the song it accompanies and because I think it fit the song best, the instruments have been pitched up by 40 cents. I tried to tow a line between melody and dissonance, choosing a string pattern that'd feel forboding and also end each repetition with a tritone.

An explosive ending felt best for this song, so I added two identical synths (one for each ear) that were then ran through amp simulators for grit. In the face of this climax, and the song structure as a whole, one person who previewed this described the song as relaxing.
