I'm not happy with this one either lol. Started off nice but as usual I struggled with arrangement. Ran out of time before I could make it sound not like an 8 bar loop stretched to fit the whole song. Oh well. Some pretty sounds in there at least. Good luck to everyone in the NGUAC!

The structure of your song is great. You have a lot of variation and excellent mixing, especially with how you handled the bass. The bells and chimes sound fantastic together. I really like the breakdown at 1:45.
@larrynachos, why are you not happy with your song?
@larrynachos, what do you like to hear in music, and why?
The music I make and the music I want to make are very different things. With my songs, the structure is transparent. You can tell exactly when I'm just duplicating the initial 8 bars. My songs are never more than one or two sound ideas, with an intro and outro hastily tacked on. My projects are never very dense, they always look pretty much the same, kinda like this:
----------------------------------------- main element
drums/bass --------- -------- --------
secondary element --- --- --- -- -
fx - - - - - - - - - -
fx - - - - -
With the music I like to listen to, the song is a journey. A constant back and forth between meeting and subverting expectations. I'm a really big fan of the rhythmic nature and creative sound design of color bass music. You can't tell what the elements are, where the seams are.

I like the dreamy atmosphere at the beginning. The quirky synths at :27 are really refreshing, and the drop at :44 has a fun pattern of rhythmic emphasis. The harmonic content is pretty repetitive, and some of the transitions here are pretty abrupt, like at 1:39. The echo-y percussion at 1:39 was a nice touch, though. The glitchy section at 2:06 was a good idea for a bridge, although I think you overdid the puttering effects after a while, and I think the piece needed another climactic section towards the end to really hit it home. Still, I really like the sound design and mixing here. Strong work, LN!

An 8 bar loop stretched out into a song is still a song, mister! And this one ain't half bad.
That sample at 44 sec is a little ear piercing
I appreciate your useage of multiple snare drums, pitching, and splashy fx. I might not use quite so much widening as it creates phase issues lower down. However for the most part I feel you've used it to good effect, much like your colorization.
The delays at 1:49 slap back so noice. I may have layered them with a soft sub kick in the center and a sustained tiss like the cymbal sample at 2:31.
You are entirely too critical of yourself. Throughout I've heard several interesting developments of the same idea, great break cuts, and an interesting approach to FX. The only thing I would really consider reworking are overall levels (I feel the colorization has been blown a bit out of balance, and the sub could use more presence throughout), center channel vs side balance, and kick-support.
There is really not much else wrong with this piece, and a lot going right. Keep experimenting like this. If you ever feel like you're boxed in by an idea also, there are things you can do like modulating to a different key, slowing down or speeding up into a transition, or even chord substitutions. As long as you maintain the groove and the connection of the rhythm section, the track will drive us home. Don't sweat it!
Star! I love that artwork. I feel like the music and art fit really well together. I'm really happy to get to listen to more new larrynachos music. Once again, I'm glad this track is getting the flowers it deserves. This would make a great DDR track. 2:06 is probably my favourite part, along with the outro actually! Your bass-work is really amazing in this track. Keep up the beautiful work and best of luck to you this round :)
