Can't think of anywhere to take this project, but I like it so I'll submit it as a loop here! Recently discovered a trick (that I should have learned a long time ago) that allows for extremely precise timing for every note! It's tedious and makes me wish I had a keyboard that I could use instead of the small keyboard UI on the app that forces me to write every note individually instead of just playing them in time... UGH. But, it's a major step up from just not having any cool little jazzy runs or unquantized drums at all, right?

Damn, this has some crazy groove going for it! The drumbeat is extremely swingy (that's also probably why cf24 said it was offbeat), but I love that about this little ID of yours.

Quick tip: if it takes you too long to put in a melody you thought in your head while you're using this trick, you could probably have a separate app where you put all your melodies to then transcribe into SunVox. I sometimes do that too even though FL has a fully functional piano roll haha

OVERSCORE responds:

I love that swing effect… idk why cf thinks it is offbeat, I guess he hasn’t heard this style before?? I would do that but I find SunVox easier… the only alternative is recording something and then exporting to MIDI, but I don’t have anything to record it on.

I can totally imagine hearing this in some banger indie game. Love it man! Keep up the good work as always! :)

OVERSCORE responds:

Ohh, that would be really cool. Glad you like my music, thanks for the review!

groovy and chill i like it its fun (☞゚ヮ゚)☞

OVERSCORE responds:

Thanks Vae, still don’t know how you guys are making those emoticons lol

Pretty good vibes! I like it ʕ ꈍᴥꈍʔ
He has a good style on synth

OVERSCORE responds:

Thanks variable! How do you get those hilarious keyboard faces XD

Uhhhg, sorry I gotta do this to ya man.

I’m not gonna count being too short as 1 of the problems, so don’t worry about that.

For one, the drum beats sometimes go a bit off key, almost as if your trying to pull it back to its original spot. The melody is hella unsightreadable, like I didn’t know what was coming. Finally was also the kicks at the end, they were a bit too punchy to make something chill.

I get this is a song you probably spent no effort on, we all got those songs, in fact, it reminds me of this @Trevor8 song

I do like the idea! I see a picture beyond this, it’s just a little out of order and they don’t have the pieces together too well.

OVERSCORE responds:

It’s short because it’s just an ID so thank you for not critiquing that lol
Off key? I’m not quite sure what to make of this… did you mean that the rhythm sounds off? If so that was completely intentional. If you’ve ever heard a beat by Xorberax you’ll notice the same thing. The melody isn’t meant to be readable, it’s meant to be jazzy, soloistic, and expressive.
As for the kicks at the end. They were originally meant to be a transition into a double time groove, but since I ran out of ideas for it, I can see how you would say they don’t really fit.
I actually spent almost 4 hours on this, excluding the time when I was away from home handwriting the beat, pads, and chords on a sheet of paper (another 2 hours, probably).
Sorry if you don’t like this style! I’d recommend listening to

because this is a real genre and I enjoy it
