Another look at my process to try to give some inspiration or ideas. What I've done here is recorded some possible melodies, bass lines, and drum beats with MIDI fonts that I was thinking of using and seen how they overlap. I wasn't worrying about form, final mastering, or effects- just the musical side of things. You can hear a couple drum beats that I could turn on and off to see which kits I wanted to use, as well as a bass sample at the end that I wound up not using. Once I sat down to make the final version, I actually started a completely new project and just copied the MIDIs that I liked. This was my first time doing it and I feel like it really helped!

Don't let yourself get bogged down making yourself work with the same project or sounds for a song. Sometimes it's nice to just use a blank page to continue a project rather than creating a completely new one. And definitely don't be afraid to get out of producing from start to beginning. Sometimes it can help if you're feeling stuck to make pieces and then put the song together like a puzzle.
