I absolutely love this short loop, but have no idea how to continue it. I wrote it a year ago and haven't touched it ever since.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how I might lengthen it. :)

Edit: This reached #24 on the Best Tracks ever list this week! Thank you all so much for the reviews and support. Keep it coming! Also, I respond to EVERY review, so don't be afraid to ask any questions. :D

Edit 2: (5-28-08) Two weeks ago, I was ecstatic to find that this track reached #24 on the audio portal front page. Reviews began pouring in, and I was overjoyed. Last week, it disappeared from the front page to my disappointment. When I logged on to NG today, though, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this track is now #13 on the front page of the Audio Portal! Thanks to everyone for their support and reviews. :D

Has alot of room to work with

The beginning is fine, cut the bass and replace it with more of an ambient instrument to allow the piano to set itself, once it's set, then add the bass.

A smooth sax solo or clarinet solo with piano accompaniment 2/3 of the way through would add a chance for your to lift the song to the next leval to conclude the song.

End the song with nothing but the piano and hold the last note.

It is a good start and this piece leaves a lot of room to work with.

Thank you for the helpful review! I have a few ideas concerning ambient instruments I might have. There is a very exotic woodwind, which I believe is African. The name eludes me at the moment, but I'm sure it begins with a 'D'. I may have it take a solo at some point, though I like the idea of a smooth alto sax as well.

I appreciate the advice. :)

I will describe it in segments.

S-1 (what you have here)

S-2 (beginning repeated)

S-3 (light build up with variation on piano tune)

S-4 (Embellishment and heavy build up with beginning beat under it and pads in the background)
Comment: Perhaps you should add in a flute or other wind instrument for the build up.

S-5 (pads lighten first beat slightly louder with pads slowly calming down)

S-6 (pads stop completly, piano solo exactly same as first part of loop, end)

if it were earlier in the day I may be able to come up with something better but as for right now thats my best shot.

if you have any questions or want me to give you another idea PM me i'm full of idea's.

I think that this "blueprint" would work well. I would want to tweak a few details, of course, but it seems plausible. Thank you for the advice!

It's probably going to be a while before I rework this. I feel as though my composition skills aren't to the level I'd like. If I'm going to finish this, I want to do it right! :)

Thanks again for the review, it was very helpful.

Ah, this is the 50th review; you, friend, have just set a record for me! :O I have been waiting a long time for this, and you have helped me in achieving my goal. Even better, you used it in a flash. This is a great 4th of July present! :D

I watched the flash and liked it a lot. Thanks for the kind review and for using this song in your flash. :)

It's melancolic, and a bit sad. Makes me imagine an old man in his chair by the fireplace, thinking about his loved ones who perished all, and how now he is alone and helpless.

BlazingDragon responds:

That's a depressing image. :( I suppose it fits the mood of the song, though.

Thanks for the review! :D

Wheres the rest?

This is an amzing loop, i just sorta happned to be looking into the newgrounds music thing for the first time, and happened to stumble across your stuff, it is really good, now im not an expert in music and reading some of the reviews i may need a musical dictionary to figure some of the words out but i will say that this really is an excellent song, i just wish it was longer

BlazingDragon responds:

Hahaha, I understand how "music language" can look fairly complicated at first glance. At least your honest, though! xD

Thanks for the great review; it is really encouraging to read them! I will see what I can do to make this loop longer, as it holds a lot of sentimental value for me. :)
