Hey everyone! I have a special song for you all today, as it's the first one I've made that's had a reason behind it besides being for a game project or a cover. It's a chiptune piece inspired by my love for fighting games and the community behind them!

I've been playing fighting games for at least half my life and it's become one of my favorite things in the whole world. Of course, a huge reason behind it is because of the friends I've made along the way. I can't thank them enough for being a part of my life and helping me grow into the person I am today.

So I decided to commemorate that would be making it into a song! For those unaware of fighting game terms, a crew battle is a style of playing fighting games where you and a group of others take on another group, fighting to knock out your opponents and until the last member standing. It's a really fun and intriguing concept, so I decided to make that into a song.

Each section is dedicated to a specific kind of play, too! The first segment is for rushdown style characters who get in their opponent's face and press buttons hoping to catch something. The second sections is for projectile characters, or zoners, who play a slower paced game but can really get things going once they've landed a clean hit. Lastly, there are the notorious grappler characters who impose fear upon their opponent with their immense strength and terrifying command grabs. I tried my best to replicate the feeling of having to fight each of these characters in their respective sections!

Finally, I have to shoutout a couple of people on here for inspiring me to make this song in the first place.

Shoutouts to @bstat @GR1D and @Zoey-21 for all they've done for me and my fighting game career! They're all fantastic folks.

Anyway, that's all the time I've got. Make sure to RATE HIGH and COMMENT BELOW for more songs like this! Don't forget to hit that FOLLOW button as well!

Great writing, hampered by the limitations of beepbox's mixing -- at 1:27 the reverb is causing a lot of resonance in the low mids that I would personally clean up

Would have been a BOP in the old arcade days!

The problem of reverb and resonance repeats throughout with low-tuned parts, and it is also hard to make out percussion, particularly kick.

3:03's busy bass occasionally is having trouble cutting through due to near notes in the low register.

By 4:30, the track feels quite long, with empty arrangement here. I might have saved some of these ideas for another song, but the outro is good, using a familiar motif.

Overall, great work and a showcase of composition skill using minimal tools!

6.7/10 comp score, 4/5 NG score for preference

Incredible! Not a single note seems out of place, and all of the sections transition pretty well.

Absolutely amazing song. Transitioning between parts was really clean. Personally, I really vibed with part 2 and 3 although the first part was really good as well. I'd definitely say this is one of your best ones for sure. Congrats on a hard work well done. 👏

Damn wish I could use this
