[cdc266] "Four Girl Trouble (garage rock version)" by Primordial Dub Rockers

credits:
Wolfe McLarty: vocals, lyrics
xxxclusive: production, organ, squirrely guitar, drums
Steve Tapia: first verse guitar
Pete N.O.C.: ranting voice at the beginning and end
mystery R&B guy (sorry!) - "aaahs" on chorus
G. Ratte': production, bass guitar

Notes from Ratte': This is a remake of the previous #259 (http://www.newgrounds.co m/audio/listen/126686), with the only part carried over were the vocals. We wanted to do a garage rock reworking so we tracked ourselves playing real instruments. xxxclusive played his real drum kit, that we prepared by sticking a busted-ass crash cymbal inside of the kick drum to get a trashier sound. He also played the guitar parts through a car speaker connected to a PA amp with alligator clips, and we had poured a bunch of BBs on top of the speaker cone to get an even nastier tone. The organ is real too; a half-working Hammond that we'd bought at a thrift store for around a hundred bucks.

Steve Tapia, who did the pick slide and punk-style chording, played guitar in Lucky ("Recess") and sadly died a few years later of heart failure.

Pete N.O.C. had dropped by the studio with Steve the day we were tracking parts, and we asked him to do some hollering - he really came through!
