This clip is from a pre-production reference track for an indie film I'm scoring. It's a walking theme for the film's protagonist...again, think "Shaft". You feedback is appreciated.

It isn't very long, but you definitely made one kickin' bit of music! Well done.

Sounds great.

To me it sounds like this needs something a bit different than what it has. This is a fantastic starting block. I, for obvious reasons, can't comment about the length of the clip if it was meant to suit the scene.

I love the open to reggae/jazzy hop guy doing the ow thing; a little cliche maybe. And the drum call is like an '80s throwback. Did you open with pipe organ?

You have a very pop feeling to this piece, but it just doesn't seem to flow right for me and then almost like there's no real conclusion. You started so strong. I have to say though that the solo is almost pushing it. From 00:01 'till that point you had me sold and then you threw some brass in and it confused me a little but still pulled me in.

I would say for some touchup, the ending is so very Seinfeld feeling, so what's wrong with closing it off with the organ? Ba da daaaaaaaaaaaa duh. lol I'd even go for some improv, duh-duh-duh .. duh .... dun. 1 2 3 4, 1 -- 3 4 bahhhhh cheaa. Something. Play with it, it sounds robot-esque, then freestyle, and finished it off with robot.

OR, you can ignore everything I said and go with what you have. I suppose the commercial world doesn't like the word "improv". OH I have it. You're opening line with the organ is so southern baptist. When you hit that open chord, keep it for a second and work your way down the board with a couple thirds or so. Heck you've got a jazz feeling to it anyway, and you're going for a protagonist happy feel.

If you change it at all, or come up with some variation demo's I'd love to hear them.

Again the songs not perfect, however, it would work perfectly in some kind of background. I can see this used in future animations. It also is an actually loop. I've heard too many songs that you can tell when it loops and it slightly ruins it. And if your trying you can still notice this, but if you step away and do something else while it plays it just sounds like the song dies just so you can hear the "WOW!" more. thanks again.
