Some amazing mixture of jazz sounds here from piano and all sorts of stuff love the fast keys on piano though and the speed tempo is nice

Glad you like it, thanks for commenting. It's a bit experimental but turned out ok^^
This is rad, sounds like something I'd find on Ninja Tune! Great work!
Maybe one day you will find it there ahahah^^ If only...
When i researched the "jazzstep" genre for the contest, since i didn't know exactly what it was about; of course the great amon tobin came up.
Thank you for the kind words!
Really great vibe going on here. I love the combination of genres, and how the filtered drums drive the track forward. The other elements are also well executed and fitting.
One small thing I noticed it that some of the high percussion in the beginning sounds very dry to me, like there is (almost?) no reverb on them, which made them stick out a little too much for my taste.
Also, I feel like this song would deserve some more development, but of course the deadline doesn't always allow for that.
** A NGAIC REVIEW **
o/ :)
COMPLIMENTS:
- Love the arpeggios (and the trumpet sounds!); this song edges the line between Jazzstep and Electro-Swing, and the odd buzzing brass with the Lounge-feel woodwinds and DnB works very well together!
- Reminds me of something Duke Ellington would do if he was still around... :)
- Got that SkullGirls / Cuphead vibe... Half-expecting Big Band to come outta nowhere and kick all our asses while this plays! xD
CRITIQUE:
- It was hard to hear some of the Upright Bass working in the background. Could've maybe turned up the volume on that a little bit, so that it pokes out of the mix a bit more (currently, it's even hard to hear it during the softer moments of the song when it's just the drums and winds workin' the vibe.)
- I've really got no other complaints. This song is mixed very well, and there's subtle, natural dynamics going on throughout--enough where you never feel tired of listening to it or it's repetitive. :D I don't know if you humanized your realistic instrument synths, but from the sounds of it, you have done. So props for that as well!
Good luck with the remaining layers! :3 I look forward to hearing more from you!
Thanks for -once again- taking the time to write a very detailled review^^
Really appreciated and glad you liked the music :)
You're right about double bass, it could be more upfront, i think i need to hear more songs featuring it to get a good idea of its natural power.
Cowboy beebop ost seems like a good start^^
See you next layer o/ I think we're gonna start seeing really weird genres pop out^^
This is so cool! I wouldn't expect DnB drums to work so well with jazz but you pulled it off really nicely. I love how the track ends just like the beginning, making it super loopable. Listened to this quite a few times already and it never gets tiring. Good job! :)
Thank you!
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
