Welp I finished it! Thank to my buddy Johnny for helping me with tones and mastering. By no means is this a final mix, but im pretty happy with this. Starting to REALLY dig writing for metal.

This all started with wanting to work with some choir plugins and combine it with metal. I downloaded the piano you hear in the beginning and end, and then the whole song spawned from that piano and chord progression. I wanted ot make something HEAVY but still not rely on just open note chugs (LUL)

I can't get away from trying to be cool and melodic, but I did get away from it a bit here. Only a little. I tried to write something HEAVY, and now I KNOW I can get heavier.

I'm still messing around with sound and guitar tones so I'm still on the journey, even this song doesn't have guitar tones I TRULY worked on. ONE day.

~~~Reuploaded a better mix. NOW I'm done with this project even if it can be fixed. kthx~~~
~~~REUPLOADED AGAIN cause i over bumped the master accidentally and it was clipping almost a whole 1db over. I'm so done with this track....~~~ NOW THE BASS IS A BIT TOO LOUD. Im done. Ive reuploaded this probably 6 times.

Enjoy it anyway.

Also I hate hashtags.

Damn this is good! The choir and atmospheric elements on this are really nice. That 1:40 section though is SUPER dope and unique with the way you did the pitch shifted notes on guitar.

Mix sounds great too from what I can tell listening through my iMac speakers, will have to re-listen on my home monitors later. I think my one and only gripe is some of the chugs like at 1:22 and 2:55 sound artificial - perhaps from the bass guitar, is it a VST?

But very nice work! \m/

trunotfals responds:

Thanks doood! It's all vst, all guitars. But I've made some strides in programming to make much more realistic guitar sounds. I'm hoping to get my own guitar into my mix someday, in just not confident I end up heavily editing my di, and then it's a waste and sounds vst anyway. I'm not a guitar player, at least proficiently 😭

Officially nutting. The only thing I could complain about is a bit much 10k I think on the guitars. I would like to hear a bit more of their tone cut through for shittier speakers, aka my phone

Nice, I'm digging it! I'll definitely be following your stuff in the future.

FYI, just found a sweet video on guitar tone (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1SnqKV_9Rs). I'm trying some of these techniques out right now with Heavier7Strings to see what I can come up with (which, by the way, yes, I can actually play, but I don't own a 7+ stringer to get those bassier notes...)

trunotfals responds:

Yea this is actually on Ample Metal Hellraiser, a 9 string, and i STILL want it lower. I actually tuned some of it down through automation to get even LOWER haha. I tried playing it on my 7 string, and its just so low the strings can't even vibrate, you might think about going the route im going to, and just get thicker strings for your 6 string, so you can play the low notes of a 7 or 8 string. You'll miss the higher string, but all I personally care about is LOW TUNING hahaha. just a thought. I'll check out that video! right now i just wanna write, so I had my buddy help me out, but i need to find my own tones asap, so that video is valuable to me, thank you! and I'm glad you like it!

Wow, this is really good. Mixed very well, and the perfect combination of metal with the epic choirs and strings/synths. Good work!

trunotfals responds:

Thank you! I actually just reuploaded a better mix too, i thought the background stuff was a BIT too loud and overpowering the main guitars! Thank you so so much.
