There's a reason why I held this art in my favorites tab. It's not just because it was good.
Back around a couple of weeks ago, I decided to try an exercise similar to the challenge presented by AIM. The only difference was that I was going to focus only on the Recent tab on the Art portal. I did this for two reasons: 1) it allowed me to get exposed to talent that may not usually get frontpaged (in fact this piece of art hasn't seen the frontpage yet), and 2) it could give some unique styles that might help in making a song. When scrolling through, this was the art that captured my attention the most - while it wasn't particularly as interesting compared to other works I've seen, the natural aura and unique style kept me looking at it for a good bit.
What was supposed to be a day at most turned into a good lot of time because of life and other works I was needed in. In my free time, I gave this a finish and wanted to make it represent the brisk autumn sunrise - from the night sky to the first glimmers of light, to the moment when the sun finally comes in. I tried to cut back on the ambience so I could experiment with letting the instruments give the setting instead of sounds like wind or rustling trees.
I enjoyed doing this, and I highly encourage checking the art and artist out here. The art is used as the CD image for this song, but honestly the song would've never come to be without that image.
