With the recent Supreme Court rulings, I haven’t been feeling very patriotic or even in the mood to celebrate the Fourth of July even in a “It’s fireworks season!” kind of way. I’ve been realizing more now than ever that a lot of people in this country—voting people—have an unfounded, deep-seeded hatred of others. Our rights are the only things that keep them from getting rid of people like us and those rights they seek to take away. It’s hard to be proud of your country when that happens, and it happens so easily.
