They say that every song tells a story (yes even electronic...)

So what am i trying to tell with this one? Not entirely sure. I have, however listened to the completed track over 20 times just trying to figure out what genre it is alone...and since i can feel a spacey story forming in the notes as they pass melodically through my skull, i have determined that this one is more of an ambient...

The deep pads underlying the trippy notes, the strange beats, the echoing synths and the overall ... distance ... that i can feel while listening to the waveforms give me a sense of flying among the stars, and of unfinished conquests.

I can feel - even see - a ship, a noble ship, rocketing to sectors unknown, searching among the depths of space, trying to find a purpose as it crew slumbers away in mechanically induced near-death in order to be alive whence they arrive at whatever destination the onboard Intelligence deems worthy.

If i close my eyes, and let the sounds flow through my cortex, i can almost feel the silent hum of the cold metal as i gaze upon the stars streaking past the hull of the massive colony ship, extracted from the atmosphere of that planet, so long ago, lifetimes, centuries, aeons ago... That green and blue planet so ruefully abandoned as fire rained down from a million steel lances... The ages past....

What awaits the stalwart knights of this new age? What will come of this, this lone hope for humanity? As the beat kicks up toward the end, i feel elation! I feel renewal as i get a sense of possible success! The near light speed journey is soon to come to a close! Soon is a relative term and as the music fades into the silence of the machinery and computers ticking away into the artificial blue glare of the bridge, i slowly make my way to my chamber, my personal cell for the last leg of the journey, and enter an ersatz slumber, the hope of a new dawn fading as i slowly drift away....

Music is my drug, there is no better substance.

Close your eyes. Drift.

Viros responds:

Wow, man, thanks!

I try to be a bit different in my approach to these tracks, and I'm glad you appreciate it, really!

Thanks, man, for the kind words!

That shit's nuts. It has a distinct sound, and style. Thats a good thing. I like that it is not repetitive, and has stages it goes through. I can see the visions you have, and I think they can match up pretty well. Music can be one of the best things in your life if you have an imagination like you. It let's you escape into a world of your choice. I can say this track is almost like meditating.

I used a good 6 minutes on this. Voted 5
I look foward to more!!

Viros responds:

Wow. Thanks. I really appreciate what you've said.

I've switched from making the music for the sake of making the music, to making music to say something, maybe even to convey a feeling, and i notice a massive change in the way my music evolves because of that.

My past work was stuff that i made in order to just put something up...you know how it is, you want to have people like your stuff so you try and pump it out and get 'lucky.'

That just doesn't work.

You have to make the notes speak to people...you have to get a feeling from it.

It takes me a lot longer to finish a track now, though, so it may be a while before another one like this graces newgrounds. Rest assured, there won't be more like the others.

Thank you, again, for your words.
