im laughing, it sounds like my ringtone
Originally, I started out to create an authentic 8-bit track - strictly chiptune - but it evolved into something else. Originally, when the backing percussion came in I used somewhat normal sounds but I decided to bitcrush everything to make it gel with the squares a little better.
It's a relatively short track and there's not much in the way of variation but overall it came out alright. At one point I considered using this as a lead in before jumping into some choppy DnB but I wasn't inspired enough to bother as I wanted to get this wrapped up... Maybe for a future project...
Total time spent on this piece: about 2 hours

W00T!!!
This is the best 8-bit track I have ever heard!
I'm flattered :D
People generally seem to like this one. Maybe I should upload a few others like it.
chippy chips
man i love chip/lo-fi. The sub-bass in this tune is genius. this trk almost could be a theme for a mobile phone company:) Loved it, really addictive.
Hey, wow - a month late with my response. (sorry)
Thanks for the comments - Now I guess I'll need to start calling mobile service companies. ;)
Moar like 10 Bit
cuz u get 10 stars m i riet? and rule 10 LOL AM I RITE
this is incredibly happy-really catchy poppy beat, and super cheerful melody over the top. Brings me memories of playing Atari even though I've never played one. Really good though, sounds totally authentic-dont have much else to say. Maybe a slow lead melody would sound chill in here, cant say much, i dont know a thing about 8bit. But you sure as hell have inspired me to make an 8bit track for this contest, so thanks man!
I'm glad that you found some inspiration here - I'm looking forward to hearing your MAC submission!
To most of the contestant in this month's MAC:
THIS is a proper chiptune. Goddamnit.
Yes Goddamnit! :)
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
