Following on from AST, i've decided to download an actual chip programme, the free for all chip64. Tinkering away i like the sound palette, it's a deviation from what i normally do. Trying to maintain an air of authenticity. But anyways it's nice to see what this things are made of. All in all i have about ten instances of the programme running, doing bass, synths, melody lines and the drums as well. So i think that ticks all the papers for being a genuine chip tune.

I would like to know what you think on this, pointers etc as this is my first ever attempt at this.

:D oh wow

.... it makes me tired...
*yawn* why.....
its a good melody but the old sound...
makes me so sleepy...

Awful.

Hurt my ears a bit. This just sounds horrible, I'm sorry. This is a giant step down from your other music.

pitbulljones responds:

hehe yea twas an experiment with a new vst, unless you were playing on atari 2600s and c64s it will not appeal whatsoever, this is how old skool games sounded we've come a long way since then. many thanks.

cips away

yo, prefer this a lot to the track posted above waaaah.
real nice sound to this, gonna download me that programme. this gets better and better as it goes on. real aphexy quality to the timbres. melodies are really good nostalgicness, makes me feel funny in a good way.
freakin great job.
;ped

pitbulljones responds:

hmmmmm are you jut humouring me here ped'. I mean thats exactly what i was aiming for that nostalgic feel but i don't think it came off too well...ahhhh well thanks mate.

Pretty Good.

It was good, but the background sound stood out to much and just got annoying near the end due to its repetiveness. I really liked the end, but, like I said, the begginging was kinda repetitive.

pitbulljones responds:

thanks for the review. I can understand what you mean, the underlying synth being too load. prolly my fault that'll be, mixing with 'dead ears' if you know what i mean? but the great thing about this site now is that i can reupload an edited version so i may or may not come back to this and sort some levels out. It is only an exercise in chip music afterall. Many thanks again.

TERRIBLE.

This sounded like a classroom of 3rd graders smashing organ keys together. If I were you I'd be utterly EMBARASSED by this. Heres a free piece of advice... making an abysmal noise really loud does not make it sound good, no matter how loud you make it. It was 2:39 of utter HELL that seemed to crawl along much much slower than that. This is what kidnergarten sounds like in hell.

Do yerself a favor and please never make music again if its going to turn out this terrible. I can honestly tell you after 6 years at NewGrounds and even as a member of the KITTY KREW, this is still the WORST submission of ANY KIND that I have ever encountered.

pitbulljones responds:

Haaaaaaahaaaaaaaa. You've really put a smile on my face. seriously you have. Just so you know, i don't make chip tune music. This is not my style genre or anything. But i was using an emulated c64 vst. Maybe thats why you don't ne like it i dunno.

Go listen to my other stuff you'll realise i'm a lot better at this than you will ever me my friend. Regardless i take your comments on board. They are very much appreciated.
