=========================

(Argent Metal) This is my track for NGADM 2021 Round 1. With a 2 week time limit (and only being limited to a couple/few hours a night at most due to work, plus also judging for NGUAC!), the entire mental approach and workflow around this piece has been to keep it technical, but apply and process everything in a way where it's pretty much 'slap it down and move straight onto the next thing', with only alot of the revision to details coming in the form of minor rearrangement and processing edits within the last 10 hours before deadline. Few bits I'm not that happy with in terms of processing and some levels, but this'll do for now I guess!

Despite time limits, I'm fairly satisfied with what I've gotten. Improved on a few notable things over the project's construction and learned some new bass processing workflows which have worked pretty well, and how to circumvent major dynamics issues over fast passages that I've had issues with in the past etc.

This is insane for a round 1 submission, I agree with @chiptami what you did here was just too unfair for the other contestants, shame on you.

LD-W responds:

I think for most musicians, there's more of a case for quicker progression towards good results by having access to decent resources and studying track building walkthroughs for a wide range of genre choices (alot of cinematic stuff in particular is well-documented!). I wouldn't class myself as that talented tbh, mostly just a case of persistently learning new things and brute-forcing as much technical info to memory as possible over the last 10 years (and even then I still have lots of slip-up's to learn from and deal with!). There's plenty of other musicians on this site who are able to get just-as-good results from learning over the years and applying themselves, in (very likely) half the amount of time it took for me to do the same. I just take abit more pride in that I'm able to freely rotate between different genre's/approaches at ease since I pretty much surround myself in so much music of all different types to playback, it all ends up being mentally broken down almost subconciously at this point, and analyzed for future ideas and technical application!

If you are looking for some good stuff to build up your arsenal further for no cost, I keep a news post full of good quality freebie's and the web-links to go straight to them (some of which were used in this very project like Keepforest Ferrum Free!) Link below:

was it really necessary to go this hard? absolute overkill...

Holy production skillz Batman! This is some sick metal and the Pads are some NiN/Silent Hill vibes haha. Excellent!

You still got it.
