Taking that sound down in pitch really fixed the piercing problem. The bass is heavy, but I think that's one of the strengths in the song actually. I really enjoy when the background melody kicks in, at about 1:23.

the bass is overwhelming your melody,
and the melody is to "wet".
the second melody is good !
