'LOVELY' by SoundVorteX (André C. Kalipke) of NTtHBM

Composer : Soundvortex (SVX) = André C. Kalipke of NTtHBM, Berlin, Germany

Style : Synthwave / Synthpop / Instrumental

Inspiration : After a period of time joining other projects as E-Bass Player, I wanted to make music on my own (on keys) again.

In addition a friend of mine requested a song for his project. So I started to compose this minimalistic tune (and some other tunes too).

It was made 'some' years ago, but if I composed it today, it would be the same.

You know: It's all about the music - the language of the heart(s). Not about 'higher, faster, further' or the technical possibilities... (of course, it's meant in a friendly way) ;)

I like the quirky mood at the beginning, but the dissonance is a little strong for my tastes. I’m enjoying the progression once the texture starts to smooth out at :17. The percussion sounds a tad cliche and dry, although the rest of the sound design is quite enjoyable. After that, the piece gets quite repetitive, and seems like it could use some lyrics and/or melodies to keep the listener engaged. I think the strongest element of the piece for me was probably the production quality, although without a very busy texture it’s not necessarily the most ambitious production job I’ve ever heard. Flesh out the structure and harmonies a tad, and this piece would easily earn another point or two from me. Until then, I’m enjoying the mellow atmosphere and blissful keyboard riffs here. Keep at it, NtTHBM! :)

this track makes me nostalgic for times that i was never a part of - the height of both new wave and amiga demoscene are alive and well in this. of course it's not a true .mod but definitely has that vibe about it. the ringmod intro is silly but the rest of the track feels very sweet and loving. it's on the short and simple side for sure - would've liked to hear something with more development and progression, and a bit more dense instrumentation. the tr707 kit feels a little too kitsch on this, and even for this the sample set is underutilised. it's a cool little blast from the past, but i can't say this blast holds up today.
