Today's prompt is "despair."

I wanted to capture the despair of looking at an empty room, many years after someone would gather there with their friends. Now, those friends are absent. The things that bound them together have crumbled beneath their feet. It is bleak, it is sad, it is deathly -- and one day, death will also catch up with the last person in that band of friends.

I occasionally cited running on empty while improvising this piece; I couldn't help but turn back to that.
