When I see this piece and imagine what the scene is like, I can imagine the mental state of the person in the image slowly degrading away, emotional trauma grinding away deep inside to the point of extreme action. Who knows what's on the screen though? A dark, ultimate revelation? Extreme emotional and mental degrading of the subject? Being found out for something extreme? Talking to friends one last time online before performing suicide? The angel-wing bloodstain from the bullet wound behind the head I feel represents ascendancy of the soul as the ultimate relief from a painful life, ready to move onto the next great adventure beyond the mortal realm.
Hope you don't mind that I used this piece as an inspiration piece for my second AIM entry!
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment ^_^ I love yor interpretation. If you want to know what I was thinking was going on here, the girl is livestreaming her suicide. You should totally show me your entry!
holyshit no words bro
I think I'm completely in love with this piece.
Not only does it make something like death look so majestic, but the message (or countless messages) behind it just add more depth to it. It's quite wonderful!
I love how you decided to remove any sexual sense this piece might hold by removing any "private parts". It allows the audience to not become distract and focus on what is actually happening.
Another thing that I can't help but adore is the blood/wing. It balances out the piece, gives the gore a wonderful filter, and also hints at the fact that this person has become an angel (Of course, this being my own interpretation). With the angel wing, I get a sense that this human has achieved their happiness by releasing themselves from the human/technological world.
I get a feeling that this piece could be representing a form of online bullying (it would be one the many explanations of why there is a lap top). Very nice touch! If the lap top wasn't there, there could be more questions asked subconsciously by the audience of why this person decided to commit suicide.
The only thing that I could possibly change is perhaps the pose? It looks stiff, but then again this is a dead body so the stiffness could make sense.
The color choice is well done as well. Putting a blue background behind a yellow figure is a nice use of complementary colors. The red also adds nice depths.
For an illustration, this piece does a fantastic job of telling a story! You could feel the emotion you had while creating this piece. Very nice job! This is definitely one of my top favorite pieces of this year!
