"We have scorched the snake, not killed it.
She’ll close and be herself whilst our poor malice
Remains in danger of her former tooth.
But let the frame of things disjoint, both the worlds suffer,
Ere we will eat our meal in fear, and sleep
In the affliction of these terrible dreams
That shake us nightly." -Macbeth, Act 3 Scene 2

What we truly fear is the unreal, the conjured, the twisted fantasy of the mind. It's what can make something so sweet and innocent into a recurring nightmare. What is it that lurks in the shadows? Nothing; nothing except the phantasms of our imagination.
But who's to say that they aren't real?

I'm glad to finally to a COTM again. I put a lot of effort into it this time round. I hope the color I chose conveys the rotting and putrid tone I was going for. Not all fear is angry; sometimes fear waits in the decaying backs of our minds.

How did you get that drawing skill ? o.O
I was just watching your other drawing and the contrast between them are amazing !!

Xyrlian responds:

Jazza's videos really helped. ^-^
My other images were an experiment with vector based drawing in flash. I have a lot of experience with traditional mediums, and it's much easier to convey my style in Photoshop than in illustrator and flash.
