In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped, and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944. Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned. The free men of the world are marching together to victory.

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty, and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory.

Good Luck! And let us all beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking." - General Dwight D. Eisenhower

The first time I play Medal of Honor Allied Assault mission 3 and saw Saving Private Ryan for the first time. Operation "Overlord" or "Invasion of Normandy" have captivated me to start my interest in history.

Today on June 6, 1944, 73 years ago. The largest and greatest amphibious assault ever in military history to start the liberation of occupied Europe from Nazi Germany. It began in the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, now known as D-Day. Thousands of American, British, Canadian, and French soldiers backed by paratroopers, bombers, and warships-stormed a 50-mile stretch of French beach called Normandy.

The Allied infantry began landing on the coast of France at 6:30 A.M. and by midnight, over 150,000 British, U.S. and Canadian troops had landed in Normandy. Despite the impressive landing and large Allied force, D-Day was a massacre with about 9,000 Allied soldiers either dead or wounded. The death toll was staggering in comparison to the German forces. only losing about 4,000 soldiers. Despite the growing death toll and dangerous mission, the Allied forces gained momentum soon began to expand their occupation over the coming months. Due to D-Day, Allied troops began the liberation of Europe.

D-day was the beginning of the end of the war. The Invasion of Normandy allowed the Allied forces to get their soldiers back on the European mainland and to start defeating German opposition and Nazi tyranny. It was the major turning point of World War II and perhaps one of the greatest strategic military operations that ever executed.

"This operation is not being planned with any alternatives. This operation is planned as a victory, and that's the way it's going to be. We're going down there, and we're throwing everything we have into it, and we're going to make it a success." - General Dwight D. Eisenhower

Many people (especially Soviet fans) may say that the Russians could have won the war alone without the Allies' help. Well, they couldn't have been more wrong.

I have been planning to do a drawing of this event ever since I started drawing but limitations and bad schedule causes all the delays. This artwork took me about 5 days with 180+ layers, which is quite a rush since I just finished my final exam a few weeks ago.

Next up is for U.S. Marines fans out there. If you recognize the importance of June 22, you know what I'm doing.

Good Work. At first I thought it was an Albedo inspired piece.
