So, making a ref for Violet was long overdue. 😵💫
Anyways, I revamped her design a little bit. 'Chose to color her a deeper purple over the lighter purple and took out some unnecessary details for redrawing's sake. I also got rid of that frustrating gradient for good. This is going towards a surprise I got in store as a "thank you" for reaching 100+ on Twitter. I'm gonna do my best to keep the updates coming until it's finally complete.
With that out of the way, why don't I share some stuff about this Ghostbusters reject?

Yes, Violeautschae (Vee-ō-lee-äu-tsch-ā-ē) is her real name. The name itself means nothing, but it's also not easy to pronounce, so she doesn't mind being called Violet.
Violet is a cosmic being that met an unfortunate death. Fortunately, she brought herself back as a "half-specter". She doesn't like talking about how she died, but apparently, she battled with some other entity and lost. Violet prefers not to reveal what she really looks like. Instead, she chooses the form of a more simplistic, subtle creature. She says, "it's easier to draw." Vague hints to her true form lie within running gags about grapes and her displeasure with rocks.
Even though she's a cosmic entity, Violet must follow the rules of the ghost. She is forever bound to a dwarf planet, her final resting place, which she nicknamed 'Volute' because of its oddly-spiraled surface. (Volute is the only rock Violet can tolerate.) Violet and Volute are like a genie and its bottle, but with more freedom. Together, Violet and Volute can perform magical powers, BUT they're earth element powers, much to Violet's dismay.
Violet can alter Volute's shape, size, and matter. It makes it easier to carry Volute around. Violet can also retract and hide inside Volute, but you can summon her if you knock on Volute three times. Volute's surface is hard and rocky, layered with a strange "dusty gas". If you touch Volute, it will make an audible "poof" sound and produce colorful dust clouds. NO, that doesn't mean you should hit it like a chalk eraser. Any damage done to Volute will affect Violet. Doing vice versa has the opposite effect.
Ghosts usually stick around because they have unfinished business, right? It's the same case with Violet. Instead, she doesn't like asking anyone for help or making it everyone's problem. Violet doesn't bring up her "unfinished business" with anyone. Maybe it has to do with getting revenge on the cosmic being who defeated her? Or does it have something to do with those three weird crimson-colored stars that keep following her around? It's probable. Don't ask her about it. She'll dodge the question every time.
Despite this, Violet is a chill cosmic spook that wants to vibe. Her favorite foods are lemons and brains. She's got an "unhinged" fear of doors. Sometimes, she forgets how to ghost and bumps into stuff. But most importantly, she enjoys showing mortals what she finished drawing and hopes it brings them the same enjoyment.
