Simetric Disturbance

Share

I like the way this picture confuses the viewer, much like in puzzle books, although its not much more than a novelty.

The successive images are the same, with an added (asymmetrical) layer, but the picture is made to make it seem as if they are different and that the symmetry between the black and white doesn't exist. Staring right down the middle is can be very dizzying.

Simple, but pleasing...

I like how abstract art- utilizing certain elements and principles to produce something aesthetically pleasing.

The composition shows a sort of unity- in how the shapes reflect. The stark contrast is a nice choice as well. I think this wouldn't seem as effective if it had a vertical composition.

As a fan of fractals, I adore repetitious elements (the bold rectangles and lines). Even when the opposing values- it does express a likable sort of symmetry (also a fan of op art and illusions.)

I realize how simple it must have been to make this- but the arrangement makes it.

Thanks for the comments, this has really made my day. And it's pretty much as you describe it, you've expressed an awful lot in a few words.
