[WNG] Resurrection

This is a book cover I did for the upcoming second anthology by the Writers of Newgrounds, titled 'Resurrection'. Upon its release, the book will be available to purchase for Kindle, and proceeds will go towards hosting writing competitions and the like.

The last anthology from WNG, called Savouring the Start, was released in September 2014 -- and we figured it would be time to release something like this again.

I drew this with a mouse. I can't find my tablet pen and so I thought that it'd be nice for me to flex my drawing arm even with a mouse, to keep myself going until I find that blasted pen once again. While practising pixel art, I saw the announcement thread for this anthology, and so I decided to put any pixel art skills I learned to good use here. The vines and flowers below signify the sprouting of new life from the earth, and the floating character in the centre was inspired by the resurrection and ascension of Christ. I did massively simplify it, though, to give the general idea of a new life.

MS Paint + softglow on PowerPoint.

Very nice colours and shading as well.
The flowers and angel wings are also a nice touch.
