This is an image that got drawn out of me while talking with my friends from the doujin circle, A Reyvateil's Melody. Black ballpoint pen, Sharpies, Crayola markers, water and a couple filters (including self-designed ones) resulted in this. I felt I outdid myself with this one.

I don't know what started the conversation about the tower in the background, called Pantha Rhei. All I remember is that it came up one day and someone had a draft as to what it would look like. Determined to give it a proper visual representation, and already having done a bit of audio that had something to do with Pantha Rhei in the first place, I set to work over a last couple days, and finished it today. The people at ARM imagined a seven-coloured spiral tower that drew energy and life to itself, so here it is.

The girl in the front is a singer, a Reyvateil. She is an original character of mine, whom my friends at ARM have named Tetria Drihim Synx.

In the universe of Ar tonelico and Surge Concerto, Reyvateils are singers with a slightly different biological composition to that of humans. Their songs are basically programming language that interfaces with a server, which often takes the form of a tower. These songs have the power to do all sorts of things, from moving contraptions and transforming them, to moving mountains and seas and creating continents, to killing off individuals and peoples. Reyvateils basically bear a load of responsibility on their shoulders with the power they wield through the songs they sing.

It was a build-up from the original artwork that made the album cover of Cosmocrystal: Clalliss xest hymmnos. I'd informed at least some of the original artists behind it. Prohibiting building upon this one, though, in case it gets used for anything...
