[in stasis]

This was a quick drawing I began last night and finished in the early afternoon today. The image marks several forms of cleansing and transformation, all of which make me vulnerable. And I feel the quintessential signs of vulnerability are the naked form and the foetal position.

The primary purpose of this is to say that Lent is coming soon, I am taking leave of socials during that time, giving me more space to reflect and meditate. The cross mark on the forehead indicates the ashes applied on the forehead on Ash Wednesday, a sign of contrition, a sign to repent and believe in the Gospel. (Given that many places are still feeling the effects of the pandemic, the ashes are not going to be applied like this this year.)

The colour purple is associated with preparation, fasting and repentance, passion and sacrifice, Advent, Lent, and funerals. The colours I used in general indicate a coming out as bi, an acceptance of a side of me -- a small thing compared to the huge gamut of things I feel are more pressing to address during my lifetime. So even those colours unravel from me, like clothes being stripped away, to reveal a nakedness I feel just by being me.

The liquid is meant to be perfluorocarbon -- but I'm aware that perfluorocarbons are generally red or light blue; I went with purple for the symbolism of the colours.

Drawn on MS PowerPoint and coloured on Autodesk Sketchbook, as usual.

In visualiser form it may look like this—

This is veeeeery good!
I can imagine this being in a gallery.

This art looks amazing, and if I didn't already have another art piece as my laptop wallpaper, I'd use this one.

Troisnyx responds:

I'm switching to this for Lent generally. If not this, perhaps find an art piece that would help you reflect on the season. ☺️

This is deep.

lovely. I could see this being the cover for an album.

Troisnyx responds:

It may not strictly be the cover of an album, but I could see it being used for something music-related not too long from now.
