Well, actually my inspiration was a rose, but I found out(after I screwed it up) that if I play with lightning and effects, the result is good, so here it is. The title comes from the many colours this piece of art has and the joy from the fact that these colours with the whole "round" background make you feel good. So here it is!

Nice looking when small

But it is far to big. Was the metroid logo purposefull?

Again, too large

Sorry, but when you click on the 'view full size' button, you end up with a picture that looks too out of focus to really appreciate properly. The smaller version is nice and making a compromise where it would fill a 15" monitor would certainly be a boon for you.

I like the 'flames' licking around the piece, as it looks quite symbolic. I'm not entirely sure of what, but as I stare at the image, I can see imagery of a bird's outline, so perhaps it is a phoenix?

I've seen pictures in the art portal that have to be viewed in full size, or else their effect is very limited. On this piece it is different. If viewed in full size one can see all the details, but the picture itself is lost, which is a pity.

The colours are chosen very well here and the red apears to be very vivid. Also the contrast of the bright red and the darker colours of the "leaves" (the shapes look like leaves so I call them leaves) is very intense and gives the picture a very nice atmosphere.

Pretty well done ;)

I quite liked this. Pretty good job on it.

The colour scheme is very good, since the colours match with each other perfectly. My only complaint with the colours is that at the side, there are some white bits which look random and kind of strange. I liked the colour you used for the rose thing in the middle, but I think that in general, the colours are a bit too dark, and when I saw the title 'Colourful Joy', I was expecting something slightly more bright.

I really like the background you used, it fit very well with the rose thing. As for the rose thing, as Insanimation said, it could look better when in the middle, because it looks a little out of place shifted to the left as it is. Also, somewhere at the bottom half of the rose thing there's a bright spot which looks a little strange since it's the only bright spot in the rose thing. I think that by adding more bright spots at the edges of the rose, it could look a bit more appealing.

In conclusion, it's a good picture. The colours, although slightly dark, are good and the background is great. Keep up the good work.

Too complex.

Whilst it is fairly simple, I think there's still a bit too much detail.

The swirly red thing isn't necessary, and even if you thought it was, it would be better if it was central. The random white vignette on the edges are completely pointless too. If it my piece of art, I would just have that colourful background thing, maybe given a bit more structure with masks (as in, on Flash, not the costume kind)

The image size is a bit much too..The full size is far too big to view properly (and I have a very big screen), and the NG size is too small to see all the detail properly. Try to find a balance between the two.
