Most operations on an alien world, or at least the best operated, are supported by at least one orbital ship or more. Often times delivery of new supplies is crucial and what better way to get something to the ground quickly than by simply dropping it! Orbital Drop Pods have been in use since the dawn of space flight and have become landmarks of themselves, sometimes left abandoned with their cargo still available to whomever finds it.
