Undergrowth melody

Share

"A hymn flows through the forest. Beams of light of the sun in the horizon filter through the damp misty forest air, as I come upon the source of the melody. A dragonoid sits upon an ancient gnarled tree, the sun on his back lighting up the scenery for his symphony. It is as if the slight breeze and the falling leaves follow his music, I cannot tell if he is following the music of the nature, or if the forest around him is following his notes. His body swaying from side to side, as if following the rhythm of the wind. The dragonoid sitting there seems to be so immersed in this melancholy tune that he does not either see me approaching or does not pay any attention to it as I take a seat on one of the roots of a nearby tree. Truly, if I had not witnessed magic before, this was it, as the wind picked up around the forest, seeming to hum along the melody he was playing on his instrument. After awhile I found myself humming to the as well, it felt as if I was entranced by this music, time and all needs falling off of me as I was immersed. I cannot say what in the music was so captivating, but it felt as if it told a story that was more personal and captivating than any book. And while it was his music and story, it felt as if it was mine too, telling a story that was as personal to me as it was to him. Occasionally he would stop playing the instrument begin humming the tune himself, and whenever he did so the forest seemed to fall completely silent, as if giving room for his voice to echo throughout the trees and bushes.

I cannot say for how long I sat there listening to him play, but once he was done, the sun was already high in the sky. As he allowed the final note to reverberate through the thicket, I become how still the forest had become. The woods allowed the last sound of his melody to float in the air for a moment until the breeze and the rustling of the leaves picked up again. It was as if the forest had just let out a big exhale after holding its breath for so long while listening to the tune. Once he began to leave, I did not make any attempt to try and converse or follow them, as I felt like the melody was more personal than any conversation could ever be."

Great work, love that forest floor!

Very realistic, good balance, fantastically well done.

very nice and good looking :D

Really dig the color scheme and light arrangement here ! I can almost feel the crunchy dry red leaves in the sun and the slightly misty air.

Ok, you're cheating here. This is supposed to be a dark moody forest scene where I could make a joke about Jason hunting kids or something. Its no fair setting it in a brightly lit happy scene.
