Infestation

Share

This started off as a little exercise in grayscale painting and I am pretty happy with the results, managed to get more vivid colors than what I usually am able to get with grayscale.

"Once the amalgamate manages to find its way into a metropolis without anyone noticing, underground through the sewers, via an infected plant brought to a store to be sold or intentionally by someone already infected, it is a matter of time in most cases when the city will suffer a drastic transformation. Often times it will start unnoticed and in out of sight places, where it will slowly grow and fester, contaminating the air around it with its spores which in worst case scenarios infect dozens of people each passing hour without anyone even noticing in the fast moving city environment. While it grows it will do anything to keep itself hidden, often growing basic defenses around the ground zero once it has grown enough. Once it has grown large enough to not stay concealed anymore amalgamate parasites and infection forms begin to flood the area near it, attacking and consuming anything organic to allow the growth of the brood. This causes the brood to begin growing exponentially faster as new amalgamate spawn is created with each new assimilated creature. If action is not taken fast enough this growth can quickly spiral out of control as it spreads through the metropolis like a virus as new pockets of the amalgamate appear around the city as the infestation escalates.

If the amalgamate manages to claim a city to its own, after a few months the city will hardly be recognizable as what is used to be, due to all the amalgamate buildup on the entire infrastructure of the city."
