Icy breeze (animation)

Share

Here's something I worked on over the weekend. I felt like trying out something new and different by implementing animation to my drawing, well actually this was to be an animation first and foremost, but only using a more complex style. The hardest part about this was converting the file to something that could be uploaded online. Right now it is a .gif which makes the quality far worse than it is supposed to be, I'd use a .swf file if it wasn't so bloody difficult to convert a file from photoshop to .swf. Adobe, please fix. Oh yeah, and speaking of which, this was animated and drawn in photoshop.

I dunno why the animation is so small here, but you can see it in its full resolution over here: https://www.deviantart.com/themefinland/art/Icy-breeze-767277750

This is really nice, and I appreciate that you can do snow right. The eye is nice as well. I do feel like the cloak needs more detail so not really stand out from the rest of the character, though. The neck moving is probably the worst thing about this, as while necks can move that way, they disturb the clothing around them, and it looks wrong to just see it slide while the robe remains still.

Your art is already incredible, but adding animated movement brings it even more to life! Although I'm sure it'd take more effort, the animation would be even greater and more life-like if more parts of the character moved, like the chest as the creature breaths or their tail swinging back and forth; just subtle movements, as nothing that lives is ever still, even when sleeping.

I'd make the movements a little faster and more sporadic to hype with the pace of the snowfall. Other than that, top notch!
