The pod shook and rumbled as it neared the surface. With a great crash it implanted itself onto the ground in the middle of a field, after which the door on it swung open and a form tumbled out onto the field. The pod bearing engravings on the ship it was from, which fell victim to the orbital debris that now polluted the orbit of the planet. This ship was one of the last interplanetary ships that left the planet, an hail mary attempt at a final evacuation attempt after the invasive life form had spread too far into the major cities. Some of the ships in orbit had a chance to evacuate as they got word on what was happening on the surface, however after the life form managed to infest itself on some ships it caused several of them to collide into satellites and other ships. It didn't take long before the orbit became almost impossible to fly through. However when faced with certain death most would find it more favorable to take the slimmest chances against having no chance at all. These ships that departed too late made it even harder for others to get off of the planet as their ship wrecks contributed to the massive space wreck fleet around the planet.
The figure rose on its knees, its half broken and malfunctioning suit making a plethora of noises in protest. Looking around it could only see plain fields, as far as the eye could see, a calm breeze blowing and light rain falling around him. A rare sight nowadays as the majority of the areas around the world had fallen into chaos after the invasive species had made its presence clear on the planet, the tightly packed cities providing it places to grow at an alarming rate. The people unknowingly taking the parasitic organism with them to other cities before the initial outbreak caused mass hysteria as several cities suddenly were overrun by it. This field, where the figure had landed, however had survived all of this. He knew that this wouldn't last for long though, as he had seen what the organism does to anything living. At the moment the life form was most likely still busy converting the cities and hadn't had a chance to reach out this far. It would only be a matter of time until it would spread here as well unless something cataclysmic happened.
