Rounding out the fifth and final of the first wave of BlazBlueberry commissions, is Hades Izanami, the big bad of the BlazBlue series, now as a big, grumpy blueberry.

Of the five pieces commissioned, this was the one the commissioner was looking forward to the most, so this is the most deferential to their preferences. ergo the inclusion of traits I don't typically incorporate into the blueberries I draw, like being visibly wider than they are tall and the arms being closer to the head than the typical "X" formation.

One of the fundamental design directions of these commissions was to incorporate colors from each character's original color palette into their colors as a blueberry, hence why Izanami is so much more purple than the previous four BlazBlueberries, even Nine. The coloring for Izanami's body was heavily inspired by SugarRollArt 's picture, Comm: Juicy Aqua, made with a complete base layer of violet, ultramarine for reverse contour coloring, and a light application of tuscan red for contour coloring and a bit of contrast to make her look extra succulent and j u i c y, with her nipples as a base pink with a thin layer of indigo on top. I did admittedly stretch the design philosophy a little with her hair, using character art where Izanami's hair is a much brighter pink than the deep purple in game, so it wouldn't blend too much into the purple of the rest of her body and provide a contrasting frame for her face.

Using her weapon, Yasakani no Magatama as an attempt to juice herself was meant to reflect her displeasure over her situation, as well as a progression of Litchi using Mantenbo to... churn her blueberry butter. Her lack of freely leaking juice is also supposed to be indicative of this, though, regretfully, due to a mistake I made in proportions I made early in the line art, her right nipple was pushed to far into the corner, resulting in a less visible juice stream that I would have liked.

Speaking of which, this is easily the least pleased I've drawn a woman about turning into a blueberry. The first sketches was her displaying active disdain, brows furrowed and teeth gritting, but the commission informed me this was antithetical to Izanami's character, which is sociopathically lacking in emotion. Even the grumpy pout isn't entirely in line with her frame of emotion(lessness), but we both agreed it was too damn cute to not use. I actually couldn't help but chuckle during the drawing and coloring process, thinking to myself, "Heh, what a grumpy blueberry." It is kind of fitting and funny at her expense to see her in such a state, having to suffer the indignation of her situation, with no recourse but attempting to juice herself, leaving her with no solace by to lie back and think of murdering England.
