Training the Blight

Share

I wanted to do some more Mini Comic practice, so I worked a solo picture of Jun into this.

This is a somewhat continuation from my last piece of Jia, I liked the idea of Jun finally being able to train Jia in his more expertises style of fighting.

Also, this was a nice excuse to show off Jun's gross right arm doing some more interesting things, like morphing into a giant snake head.

I was almost going to scrap this picture, but I'm I didn't as this one turned out pretty nicely, while Jun take the most focus it was nice to squeeze in Jia and giving her some different expressions.

Jun’s Notes:

I knew this day would come eventually.

I just didn’t think it’d happen so soon.

Being someone who has been cursed by Orochi I have had to live with my Blight Powers for all of my 320 years of life.

Those who have Blight based power tend to suffer from mutations, hence my grotesque right arm.

But there are other more subtle changes someone could have effected by the Blight.

From the moment Jia was born I knew that she’d have latent Blight Powers deep within her.

The head of the Shadow Strikers; Weiss more or less told me “It’s not if the powers will manifest, it’s when”.

I liked to pretend that Huolong’s Holy Fire would be enough to keep Jia safe; but as history goes with the Jing Fei family, that the “Violet Flames” mutation has found its way to rear it’s ugly head.

While the Violet Flames themselves aren’t too dangerous they are fueled by the user’s negative emotions.

It’s been documented that should those flames get too hot it would potentially kill the user.

So in secret in an underground lab, I got the idea to give an old abandoned project new life.

One goal the Black Lotus have been trying to achieve is create what they call “Chimeras” beings that have fused their native Mancy power with Blight.

Most times these experiments have been composed, it results in a swift death at best, and a long miserable poisoning at worse.

I saw to use this intel and turn it against them.

For 25 years I had a group of scientists develop a totally obedient “parasite” that would attach to it’s host and then eventually create a perfect symbiosis.

We call it a “Blightling” a creature made of Blight, but bred to not have any aggressive tendencies.

Basically a more controlled way to make a Chimera, the risk is still there, but the chance of survival is higher.

Once I heard from Rook; Weiss’ 2nd in command that he and Rick recovered Jia, and she was in the ICU, I knew we had to act fast.

Her Blight poisoning wasn’t nearly as severe as we thought it could be, but we did extract the Dark Flames out of her system as soon as possible.

I could already see and feel the Violet Flame seeping out of Jia’s mouth, and immediately I took out the Blightling.

I asked Weiss to do some final preparations for this project to work, as when Jia would recover I wanted her and the Blightling to bond as soon as possible for her own safety.

He nodded and for the rest of the week got the Blightling ready for Jia.

After those two weeks Weiss granted Jia with the Blightling as Weiss called “The Blight Dress”.

It bonded to Jia perfectly, and she came out of this ordeal stronger and with a few small mutations.

Other than the Violet Flames which are still “Holy” and can now poison the Blight itself with just embers, Jia’s bones and blood are now blackened.

I know this freaked her out greatly but I’m assuming the Blightling figured the easiest and fastest way to bond to Jia was to get into her bloodstream.

What Jia doesn’t know, is that the Blightling itself will protect Jia without her even noticing, the Black Blood harden to prevent large cuts, and the dress itself using tendrils to smack away danger.

Eventually Jia will learn how to morph the dress into weapon constructs like blades, spikes, and other pointy objects.

From this point forward me and Weiss will be giving Jia some extra Blight based training to make sure she can control her dress at 100%.

While I don’t like the idea of having to actually go all out on my little pumpkin, it is needed for her safety.

That and I’m sure Meilin will be over the moon to see what Jia can do now, as well and her going “Full Volt” for once…

Ugh… Meilin’s sheer joy of fighting our daughter just… Well, I should have expected this...
