Surge the Tenrec

Share

So, it looks like the IDW Sonic Comics just gave us another winner of a design.

From the Impostor Syndrome miniseries, it’s Surge the Tenrec.

When I first saw Surge, I knew that I was going to end up drawing her.

We have this punk, badass tomboy with electric powers?

Sign me the fuck-up, this was going to happen sooner or later.

Sadly, as of me finishing this picture, there isn’t too much info on her yet, as Surge only got to do stuff in two issues.

But, getting to see her powers in action was a treat nonetheless.

It’s probably a bit too early to work Surge into my Anti-Eggman Unit Sonic AU, but that’s not going to stop me. Plus, it was the driving force that gave me a reason to draw Surge in the first place.

When drawing Surge, I honestly didn’t change much about her design.

I added some extra metal studs on her pant cuffs and belt, but other than that, her design is mostly the same.

Well, I did make Surge’s tank top a little more ripped up to show off her cleavage and abs, because I just couldn’t help myself.

I’m rather proud of the color shading on Surge, as well as the electricity arcing off of her arms and shoes.

From the light green fur, to her peachy flesh arms and muzzle, and down to her yellow pants.

Just, fantastic all around!

Overall, I’m really happy with this piece!

I hope we’ll get to see more of Surge being badass in the future.

As well as that teased fight between Surge and Sonic as well.

Shadow’s Notes:

I’m probably not calm enough to be writing this report, but I feel like if I don’t get these thoughts out now; it’ll be bad for me later.

As of recently, a top troop of G.U.N. scouts have found out about a new threat we have to deal with.

This man’s name is Dr. Starline, some platypus that worked close to Eggman for a time before he went off on his own.

Apparently he had been working with bioengineering the last time we found info on him.

And it seems like that this girl named Surge is one of his “creations”.

Her powers consist of electrokinesis, as it seems Surge can produce lightning from anywhere on her body.

I have noticed, however, that the metallic parts of her clothing and accessories tend to spark the most often.

Unfortunately, Whisper got to experience the brunt of Surge’s force; stating that it felt like she got punched in the gut with a cattle prod.

It’s difficult to tell if Surge’s power is natural or enhanced by something internal.

Omega had tried doing a biometrics scan on Surge, but it seems he couldn’t get a clear reading; how very odd.

As for her observed personality, Surge is like Sonic, but without his heart and his rebellious tendencies cranked to a dangerous level.

She craves destruction, as we have observed her laying waste to legions of Egg Pawns by overcharging them with her powers.

And yet, she tries to play off as this more violent, heroic version of Sonic.

Because I guess in her twisted mind that plunging Station Square into a city wide blackout for the sake of blowing up an underground Eggman base is “heroic”.

I moved the priority of Surge’s capture on top of my list, alongside her little tag along Kitsunami.

Perhaps if I get both of them, I will be able to interrogate them into telling me information on Dr. Starline and his other creation, Null the Jackal.

If Surge thinks she can get away with taking out half of my team, then she has another thing coming to her.

It’s time this brat gets humbled; Starline might have “designed” her to beat Sonic.

Yet, how foolish of Starline, because that’s not going to be nearly enough in order to stop me.
