Kenna was in the middle of looking for alternate route to the kingdom, making sure no one can use them to raid the kingdom under their noses. Days of exploration lead her to a temple near the coastline that's been abandoned. Kenna used her magic to light the way forward, as more and more the light from the sun was becoming harder to pierce through the walls. Suddenly, Kenna tripped and activated an old Bubble Merfolk Trap left to rust (or some other reason). Her attempts to escape had no effect and even her fire magic wasn't working. A magic began to surge within the bubble, quickly turning her into a mermaid much to her irritation. Now she stays stuck in the bubble with fins instead of feet. Even if she escapes the bubble, Kenna is going to have a much longer trip back home.

Feels like 2023 is the year of reimerging ideas. This kind of bubble trap is the same one I made back in 2018, and I wanted to use it again but with what knowledge I've aquired over the years since. And with Mermay in full swing, it felt like a good idea to also turn someone into a mermaid. Had to keep that fire theme to her mertail but I also wanted her to have fin ears due to her usual attire. I love how I ended up doing the trap tho, showing off more of a rusted and slowly not working contraption, with some of the lights broken. I struggled with coming up with a background but asking some close friends and a temple ended up fitting quite well, and I enjoyed how it came out! The time was put well into this piece and I love it!
