All the disconnected geometric shapes kinda give it a Super Paper Mario vibe. I like that.

Thanks! It's very video-gamey for sure.
I'm very certain SPM took inspiration from it too: the idea was to try and capture the vibe of those segmented sprites from the days of the SEGA Mega Drive. How things like tentacles and snakes were often portrayed like this! Giving this thing a retro look.
