Pride Between the Two of Us

Share

So yeah, yet another out-of-schedule upload, huh? I know I said loads of time before to not get used to it, but I guess the schedule is irrelevant at this point?

Joking aside, this particular submission was done to celebrate Pride Month. If I recall correctly, the last time I drew something for Pride Month was back in 2012... That was too long ago, so I felt the need to address it.

So you might be wondering who those two characters are? I made a journal on DeviantArt explaining about these two, alongside all my other Sonic fan characters, but for those who couldn't be bothered to click on the link... The grey-skinned Seedrian on the left is Marcelle; the one on the right is named Kala. The two has been onto each other since I got Kala from HezuNeutral and created Marcelle. Here's a copypasta from my journal of who they are and what their backstories are:

"Kala the Seedrian

This one, unlike most of my characters, was actually designed by someone else; I simply adopted her from the artist. The one who created her was HezuNeutral, who generally makes anime-influenced works, alongside some occasional Sonic fanarts. Huge shoutout to her, and I recommend you guys to go watch her and take a look at her gallery.

Anyways, Kala is a forest-raised Seedrian who lived most of her life raised by a Mobian monk in the forest. She wears a cloak that is essential for her survival; her cloak can change colours, allowing her to camouflage from threats like predators and other strangers. She covers her head with her cloak to prevent any insects from being attracted to her flowers, since she hates insects. She later met a defected demon named Marcelle, who the two would later start dating.

Her design and backstory is loosely based on the Japanese legend, the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, in which a moon child was raised by a bamboo cutter when he found her inside a bamboo. After the bamboo cutter found out she was a moon child, the Emperor of Japan gave her a cloak that allowed her to fly back to her homeworld."

"Marcelle the Demon Seedrian

Marcelle was once associated with Kano's legion of demons, but was later defected for reasons I haven't written down. After killing some of the demons who worked with her on the corner store heist, she started to live a normal life distant from her fellow demons, but at the mercy of the discrimination of other Mobians and Seedrians. However, she later befriended and fell in love with Kala, who was the only being she met who didn't judge her for being a demon."

Something else that I wanted to add for Marcelle is that, before I gave Grey's old design back to angry-aries, Marcelle was originally going to be a redesign for Grey, but I've decided instead to make that redesign her own character. Also, the reason Kala's cloak is this bizarre chalk-like gradient is because her cloak is capable of reflecting many different colours, akin to a chameleon. She uses that to hide from predators and hunters (she's a forest dweller). She has that rainbow chalk gradient to reflect Pride Month and her relationship with Marcelle.

Anyways, a few more Gmod and Brotherhood submissions will arrive starting next week. See you all on the other side, and have a great Pride Month.
