if only her right hand was complete

qweeirdo responds:

gah!!! i know!!! i worked on this one intermittently across a few weeks. i wouldnt have forgotten if i wasnt taking so many breaks from it, lol. thanks a lot for the review, bud.

I really think everything about this is nice. The soft colors and the lighting are excellent. Overall great skill indeed. :D

qweeirdo responds:

glad you like it! thanks for checking me out and leaving a review!

The rendering looks neat and refined. It has a clean look to it and is well blended, with a soft pallet of colors that makes this as a whole very comfortable to look at. Everything from the head to the shoulders looks perfect. My only concerns are with the anatomy below. The waist for instance needs a more natural shape; it curves too tightly inwards, making it hard to decipher where the ribcage ends and the stomach area begins. The perspective on the right leg (her left) is off making the figure look unbalanced. All I can suggest for that is look at a photo reference. 'And of course, as you probably already know, one of her hands merges/disappears into her leg. The shading and lighting is very crisp, but too gentle and too dispersed. Don't be so shy even when using such a pale color pallet, and push that contrast further. Adding stronger definition to the figure will do a lot in making it more interesting to the viewer. It's a nice image overall and beautiful to look at.

thanks a lot for the review! i actually did use a photo reference for this one, although i will say that it is very early in my photo reference to stylisation experience. all of your points are well explained and i can see many of the areas i can tighten up in. i fear high contrast in my own work, but i can definitely stand to just go for it. thanks again!

Very nice look. the hair swept to one side definitely helps to balance the characters look. I see what Plasmarift is talking about with the grey hair though i feel it is probably a fur attached to the pad. Over all good smooth quality work. Rock on \m/(^_^)\m/

qweeirdo responds:

OOOOOOOOOOH, YES! it IS a fur attached to the shoulder pad. i used nuetral browns, so i didnt see it as grey or hair. lol. now i feel silly. thanks for the review, Ghost! :D

A very interesting piece of art. Much better than anything I've drawn. The eye with the red iris is kind of creepy. Those eyes remind me of the girl from Devil May Cry 3. I have a few questions:

What's that grey hair coming off of her blue shoulder pad?
She has four bubbles on her stomach area. Are those suppose to be her abs?
What is an OC (I know this one is a stupid question, but I honestly don't know exactly)?

Still, a good piece.

I also wanted to congratulate you on being scouted and accepted into the Art Portal. I think of it as an honor. Don't forget about others who were in your previous position before though. Any ambitious person deserves to have their art looked at. Good luck!

qweeirdo responds:

thanks plasmarift.

i dont see a grey hair coming off of her shoulderpad, at least, there shouldnt be one there. lol.

the bubbles arent necessarily her abs, but just areas where her skin is more fleshy colored. i typically color round areas like that.

Also an OC is an original character. I shouldnt have to confirm that, but people like to assume everything is fanart.

and thanks for the congratulations. i constantly scour the unscouted section and look for those that i would like to associate with myself. i have even check you out, already. :)
