The First Valkyrie

Basically a response to my "Daemon" submission. It didn't start out that way, but shit, once I got halfway through I realized that there was nowhere else to take it. The demon was all dark and tortured, and this chick was basking in the glow of piety.

20 bucks to the motherfucker who can guess the face. I did everything else by my imagination, but I started with the face, and for that I used a picture reference. As a warning, I took ALOT of liberties with the makeup.

Great capture of mood!

I agree with the first reviewer about the proportions and such. Particularly the legs caught my eyes; it seems like the leg that is propped up should be little larger and more prominent than the other leg.

Other than those items, this is a good composition. You have very nice shading, and I really like how you did her hair's shading in particular (it looks very realistic). One thing I must commend you on is that it seems you've got one light source, which many people have an issue with. The shadows appear in the right spots. Good job and good luck with your future work!

Taacoon responds:

Thanks. Yeah for some reason hair is one of my specialties. I have no idea why it developed that way, but whatever haha.

Nice shading!

I like the way you used the pencil. But there's a big problem with the proportions. The head is extremly big for that body, also the hands and arms, theey're waay to long. (Comparing your Arms hanging down, the hands are reaching the hips, but your valkyrie could scratch her knees in normal position.)

Anyway, I lki the form of each part of the body, well drawn.

8/10//4/5

Taacoon responds:

Its supposed to look as though the arms are coming forward, giving to the increase in size. I'm gonna chalk that misadventure up to my amateur composition. The head I have no excuse for, haha. I appreciate the 8 though, and the fact that you're not killing me over a few faults in technique.
