Sorcha's Gift

Author Comments

Sorcha, a child gifted with powers that no one could understand, not even herself. Powers that are beautiful also turn deadly. Powers that threaten to consume her. Shunned by her people she is forced out onto her own, to survive against the odds.

I actually like the fact that her skin looks very pale. It matches her hair, shirt and the overall theme of the picture. Great job.

Excellent. VERY good use of light and shadows, great color, anatomy and balance.

Gotta agree with @LegolaSS about the lighting and mood. A very good job on her hair, skin and clothing, but the skin could use just a little bit of improvement to make it look a little more healthy and realistic. Yet, the power source she has really draws out the potential power and peril of her power- there is hope in the power and in her pose.

lovely use of lighting and mood, would be interested to know if you used a reference for this or not, the colors are soft and perception is good, the main issue i have with this is the background, not the "lack" of one, but how little attention you gave it. three of the corners are "brighter" as if you did not cover them with the brush (along with the top). its like having a lovely painting in a cardboard box frame, its really distracting for me. apart from that, this is a solid piece of work. just make sure you pay attention to the whole picture, not just the details! 5/5

Thanks for the review. I understand what you mean for background. I also had a plan for the background. I don't have enough technique or skill to pull off what I had in mind. So I left it shelved until I can. Also I did have a reference. My oldest daughter posed with a flashlight in her hand in the darkish bathroom! Lol. :)

Reminds me of Frozen, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Love the lines and colours, also, A+++ blending.

sweetjeannie responds:

Thank you! It is similar but very different and a lot more sad than Frozen.
